The Gates Institutes programming is designed to meet the needs of each youth based upon the individual’s innate skills sets rather than a traditional “blanket mentoring” approach.
The Gates Institutes serves students 8th – 12th grade with some exceptions for events like workshops and for college students who would like to participate in our “Gap Year” program.
In order to sign up for the Gates Institute you will need your parents permission if you are under the age of 18.
All of the Mind Coaches at The Gates Institute are selected due to their individual skill sets and unique qualities. When a new student is enrolled the program director assigns a mentor to a mentee based on.
The average class lasts 8 weeks. Each class meets two times a week. Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday Thursday for 2 hours.
Our mentors conduct phone, zoom and in person contact with mentees. This can include visits at home, school, or the community. The exact interactions will depend on each student’s personal needs and ISP.
Each student is given two weeks (or four classes) to drop out of the program for a refund. After the grace period no refunds will be given. However in some circumstances we may be able to push the start date back to future courses.
The Gates Institutes uses a proprietary tracking system called an Individual Success Plan or ISP. The ISP tracks the goals of each student and is available to be viewed by anyone who is on the students support list.
In most cases we will internally decide who each student’s mentor will be.
Participating with the Gates Institutes program offers mentees the benefits of knowledge and skill development, networking opportunities, increased confidence, and career advancement, while mentors gain fulfillment from helping others succeed and enhance their leadership skills.
